Local grants in the U.S. and Canada aims to promote polystyrene recycling

Since polystyrene material has been so widely used, but the recycling rate is very low, and the high disposal cost makes polystyrene unpopular, so many recyclers refuse to recycle polystyrene waste considering from the aspect of profits.

Polystyrene recycling requires not only the efforts of recycling enterprises and the public, but also the support of local policies.

After three years of investing more than $400000, FRC, a foam recycling coalition in Formosche, Va., launched its foam recycling grant program, which aims to promote the recycling rate of polystyrene waste.

Since 2014, the FRC has provided dozens of grants to public and private recycling entities in the United States and Canada to manage residential and drop off recycling programs. Each grant worth up to $50000 helps upgrade the equipment, increasing or expanding the recycling of post-consumer polystyrene waste.

The 2008 foam recycling grant began on June 1st. Applicants can submit applications and support documents by July 31. The FRC grant award committee will review and rate applications and notify grant awards in September.

There is no doubt that such polystyrene recycling program is a good news, it proves that we have made more progress in polystyrene recycling industry.

Last year, a Russia recycler bought a polystyrene compactor from GREENMAX. He said that he has run his foam recycling business for more than ten years, Russia’s environmental policy in recent years has brought them opportunities. The purchase of foam recycling machine also benefited from local financial subsidies.

In fact, such policy support is really a good opportunity for polystyrene recycling. As we know, some regions have even imposed bans on polystyrene, which is a huge threat to the entire polystyrene industry. Therefor, under the conditions of recycling policy, we must make more efforts.
