Kalamazoo residents now have multiple opportunities throughout the year to responsibly recycle Expanded Polystyrene (EPS) foam (marked with the “6” recycling symbol) and other items at quarterly drop-off events hosted by the City of Kalamazoo. These events, held at Mayors’ Riverfront Park, allow community members to bring EPS foam, electronics, document shredding materials, and oral care products for recycling at no cost. Volunteers are on-site to assist, and collected EPS foam is densified and repurposed into new products like insulation panels and picture frames, helping reduce landfill waste and support a circular economy.
It is well known that many residential curbside recycling programs (including the city of Kalamazoo) are not open to accept EPS foam recycling, which is commonly used for things like packaging liners, foam containers and disposable coffee cups.
At present, recycling has become a global trend, so many countries have introduced relevant policies to promote EPS recycling. For example, plastic products must use recycled materials, and the government provides recycling companies with subsidies to invest in EPS recycling machine. Under the promotion of policies, more regions began to carry out EPS recycling programs.
EPS collecting is the first, and the more important is to adopt professional EPS recycling system to make EPS waste into renewable material.
GREENMAX offers EPS recycling machine, as EPS compactors and foam densifiers for EPS waste disposal. The recycled foam material can get its new life making into new foam products like beautiful picture frames. Recycling realizes the full use of EPS foam waste.
